Each vendor that applies to be in the show goes through a jury panel where all aspects of your products and business are evaluated to ensure you have the tools to support growth and increased distribution. EVENT DETAILS | From the Ground Up 2021 Trade Show is an outdoor industry-only event held in Hastings Park on the Pacific National Exhibition Grounds on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.  You enter through Gate 2 off of Renfrew Street. The show is directly across from the PNE Forum. Vendor booths will be under individual 10×10 foot tents and spaced apart with ample room for social distancing. The even will be fenced in and not accessible to the public. Each attendee will receive a detailed event program with information on all of the Trade Show vendors.

UPDATE: ALL VENDORS WILL BE PROVIDING SAMPLES FOR YOU TO TRY AND/OR TAKE WITH YOU!

Jury Panel

Karen Barnaby

KAREN BARNABY | Karen Barnaby is an award-winning chef, cookbook author, cooking teacher and Vancouver Sun columnist. She started cooking at the age of eight and hasn’t stopped since. With over 40 years in the industry Karen has helped shape the evolving face of the Vancouver food scene with her extensive work in the city’s kitchens and food media. She is currently working as Culinary Product Developer for Fresh Start Foods West and Product Development Chef / Consultant for Goodly Foods.

Rebecca Robertson

REBECCA ROBERTSON | Rebecca Robertson is a Food Technology Instructor and Researcher with the Natural Health and Foods Products Research Group (NRG) at the BC Institute of Technology (BCIT). Rebecca has worked in the food industry since 1982, providing hands-on technical services, education and training to both manufacturers and students. She has worked directly with food processors in the areas of product development and commercialization, food safety and quality.

Gail Johnson

GAIL JOHNSON | Gail Johnson is a co-founder and editorial director of Stir. An award-winning journalist with a special interest in the role food plays in culture, she is a member of the judging panel for Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, mom, fitness instructor, and former waiter.

Kara Sam

KARA SAM | Kara Sam is the President and Founder of Bucha Brew Kombucha. It all started on a beach in Hawaii, on a quest for something to drink other than water. With her son on her hip she made her first sales call (in flip flops), for her homemade kombucha, to the local Whole Foods Market. In the five years since, she’s grown Bucha Brew into a small but mighty team, now available in 1700 locations across Canada.

Cori Bonina

CORI BONINA | Cori Bonina represents the 5th generation of Stong’s Market, a staple in the Vancouver grocery scene since 1931. She has an incredible passion for food and a keen eye for finding new products. Over the years, Stong’s has enjoyed a reputation for nurturing new businesses, brands, and local chefs and has helped many companies by being the first retailer to launch their creations.
