SPROUT SERIES | February 17, 2022 – March 31, 2022

Preference for acceptance as a vendor in the 2022 Trade Show will be given to those that have completed or are taking the Sprout Series.

COHORT DETAILS |  This series is for the new and emerging BC food and beverage brand looking to dive deep into the information and skills you need to grow your business. Perhaps your packaging is incomplete, you don’t believe your product costs are in line for selling to retail and/or food service, or you feel a lack of confidence in selling your products to buyers? The 2022 Sprout Series consists of seven 3-hour online workshops focused on preparing food and beverage processors to be ready to sell to retail, food service, and institutional food service market channels.

Learn short-term solutions for building your retail sales and how to plan for expansion – geographically and to larger retailers. The session will also cover in detail how to build the cost of distribution into your pricing model; how to determine who the best distributor for your business is; how to interview a distributor; what to expect from them; and how to manage that relationship.

Learn Canadian Labeling Requirements from the CFIA followed by an open Q&A period. The session will cover the CFIA’s Food Regulatory Framework; Safe Food for Canadians Act and Regulations; when SFCR applies; and getting Your SFC License – MyCFIA.

Learn from packaging experts Great Little Box / Ideon on how to plan your packaging from start to finish,  tips on merchandising for your product, and the recyclability and sustainability of cardboard packaging. Learn about branding and packaging for both retail and food service. The session will cover the different packaging options for your product; sourcing / supply; procurement / ordering / lead times; and inventory quantities. A review in best practices for colours and fonts for food and beverage branding will also be covered. Lastly, understand how retail stores are laid out (store and shelves) and what that means for your product.
